Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) Job Profile

If you are posted in NSSO, then you have to do two main tasks on the basis of a Statistical Investigating Officer (you will be appointed to do one of these tasks).

The activities and distribution of your work is handled by the FOD (Field Operations Division) of NSSO, of which you will be a member.

Your job will be to conduct survey and data collection drives for various government schemes, programs, socio-economic factors, urban survey and price index. A data collection profile is primarily an intense field job.

You have to prepare comprehensive and detailed data reports for various government ministries, departments and organizations.

The data you compile provides general estimates and parameters for formulation of government policies, plans and programs of the Government of India.

Data Processing JSO’s job profile is basically a desk job entirely under the non-FOD (Field Operations Division) of NSSO.

If your posting is in any other ministry / department / organization on the basis of a Junior Statistical Officer, then your job profile will be completely clerical.

There you will be responsible for drafting documents, survey report requirements, tabulation, data entry, editing and compiling reports of existing data.

Job Location / Posting: Officers can be posted in any state of the country.
